When it’s time to turn off the AC and the leaves begin to turn, it signals one thing: conference season is upon us. We’ve got a busy next few months as we’ll be speaking/moderating at 3 different conferences. Want to know where to find us? Here are all the dates of our Fall appearances:
Allscripts ACE 2013
August 21-22nd, 2013
Chicago, IL
Next week Matt Mombrea and myself (Greg Finn) are headed to the windy city to talk about structured data. We’ll be at Allscripts ACE 2013 conference running the panel “Utilize a Modern Hand-Off System with Structured Data to Improve the Accuracy of Discharge Planning.” We’ve compiled an entertaining presentation containing information that will blow the audience away. Here’s the full description:
The current state of hand off (or sign out) is:
- A mixed bag of poorly written home brew software
- Dangerous and inefficient Word or Excel documents
- Plain old pen and paper
- Unsophisticated electronic tools storing free text data
In this session, I’ll describe how we were able to create an advanced electronic sign out tool for both web and mobile devices. This tool uses structured data to achieve the optimal outcome in patient safety and care coordination efficiency. By leveraging properly structured data we’re able to expose a wide range of analytics and research around the hand off process which have not been available until now.Using our Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager integration, facilities are able to greatly reduce or eliminate duplicate data entry in the hand off by reading patient lists directly. In addition, our discharge planning features are helping hospitals make better use of their beds by reducing the time it takes to discharge a patient, and improve the turnaround time on an open bed.

Room: 31c - A Photo Is Worth A Thousand Links
People love images. They love to share and link to them. If you create and share lovable images on Pinterest, Instagram, Flickr or other image sharing sites, you’ll get a lot of traffic love in return. What makes a compelling image? What traditional elements (text, captions, user-reviews) do you need to support your image? Our panelists on this session focus on how you can create the most favorable image to attract customers to your site.
